Samos is a Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea. It is separated from Turkey by the Mycale Strait which is only 1 mile long. Samos was the birthplace of mathematician Pythagoras and the philosopher Epicurus. Samos is famous for wine. One of its popular harbour towns on the southeast coast is Pythagoreio, which has many hotels, beaches, Taverns and restaurants serving delicious food. There are archeological sites such as Ireo and the Eupalian aqueduct worth a visit. There is also an international airport on the island, where many flights arrive daily from Europe.
